Are You Ready To Shred??

It's coming soon! Our annual Document Destruction Day is just around the corner. Scheduled for Saturday, May 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Carmichael Drugs parking lot, this free service for Walton County citizens is always a big hit.  Gather up all your unwanted papers such as bank or credit card info, legal and medical records and bring them to our Document Destruction Day for secure shredding. You can see your personal documents shredded for security before your very eyes, knowing they cannot fall into the wrong hands. Two Bankers Box size files per vehicle will be shredded FOR FREE! Yessir, that's no cost! However, there will be a $5.00 charge per box for every box over two.

This year, we are asking for a donation of one pair of slightly worn or recyclable shoes to benefit the 'Find Your Solemate' ShoeBox Recycling Program.

It's a fabulous service and an even better value for our Walton County
Residents. Take advantage of this once a year bargain. We'll see you there!

And Now... Rivers Alive!

What a Great Rivers Alive Event!

This year’s Rivers Alive cleanup event was a huge success! We want to thank all our volunteers, our loyal groups, individuals, Scout troops, parents and our civic participants – we couldn’t do it without you. Over 300 volunteers, many seasoned volunteers, along with much welcomed newcomers, walked approximately 10 miles over Walton County, picking up 480 pounds of trash and debris. Items picked up included over 400 cigarette butts, over 300 food wrappers, 200 plastic drink bottles, over 100 aluminum drink cans plus over 600 food related items . We have two scout troops with a scheduled pick up in November and look forward to their adding to the totals of items littering our county
We always appreciate the support of our Sanitation Dept. and our Sheriff’s Dept. for assistance with safety and disposal. We couldn’t do what we do without them.
A BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO WAS A PART OF RIVERS ALIVE

And Soon...RIVERS ALIVE!

Rivers Alive is held annually each fall and is sponsored by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Environmental Protection Division's Georgia Adopt-A-Stream Program and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs' Keep Georgia Beautiful Program, in cooperation with Help the Hooch.
Georgia's 70,150 miles of streams and rivers need your help. Our waterways provide us with fresh drinking water, great recreational opportunities like canoeing and fishing, and they serve as a pleasant respite from our busy day to day lives. This is your opportunity to help protect one of our most precious resources. Help us clean our rivers, streams, lakes and wetlands by joining in support of Rivers Alive.
Thank you to our past volunteers who come from all walks of life - non-profit organizations, corporations, community and civic groups, school groups, faith-based groups, individuals, governmental agencies, and others.
